CLUB MEMBER OF THE YEAR
Lakelands member Jacqueline Magennis won the Club Member of the Year at the Lancelot Awards ceremony. This awards ceremony was part of the national AGM meeting, which took place in the Bloomfield Hotel, Mullingar on the 31st of January.
Jacqueline was nominated for this award by the Lakelands Riding Club and was on a short list of four other members.
These awards recognise the efforts of members who regularly go beyond the call of duty in organising or helping at club, regional or national level.
I would just like to thank my fellow club members especially my daughter Jacinta for nominating me for this award. I am very honoured to have been nominated and was delighted to be on the short list. However to win was really terrific to me, as I never dreamt I would achieve such a tribute. It was also a great moral boost to me at the moment as I am facing a few months on crutches following yet another operation on my ankle which I broke eight years ago.
I would like to congratulate the other award winners in the other categories on their worthwhile achievements. This award scheme is only on its fourth year but is immensely popular. The awards this year were lovely horse head trophies and it’s really nice that the three runner uppers also received a lovely glass plaque.
